Turkish property sales to foreigners up 235%
The Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜİK) has published statistics on property sales in May 2022, including to foreign buyers. According to the institute, 122,768 properties were sold in Turkey, twice as much (an increase of 107.5 percent) than a year earlier, but down 7.73 percent on a monthly basis.
Home sales to foreigners in Turkey in May 2022 increased by 235.7 percent compared to May last year, to 5,962 properties. The share of sales of housing facilities to foreigners in the total volume of purchase and sale transactions amounted to 4.9 percent. In terms of the number of properties sold to foreigners, Istanbul is the leader (2451 objects), followed by Antalya (1885) and Mersin (264), which overtook Ankara for the first time in a long time.
