New food labeling regulations have come into effect in Turkey. Now, misleading claims are prohibited.
The following terms are banned: "100% natural," "most natural," and "real." The word "natural" is only permitted for products without additives.
Packaged products cannot be labeled "freshly squeezed" or "oven-baked." If the ingredients only contain flavoring, images of fruit are prohibited; the word "flavored" must be used.
Names like "cheese" or "strawberry" are only allowed if the ingredient is genuine, and the word "homemade" cannot be used for commercial products.
